When it comes to kitchen or bathroom fixtures, faucets are an important part of our daily lives. They provide us with the essential function of controlling the flow and temperature of water for various tasks such as washing dishes, brushing teeth, or taking a shower.

Compression Faucet

The compression faucet is one of the oldest and most common types you will find. It has separate hot and cold water handles that you turn to adjust the temperature and a central spout where the water flows out. Inside the handles, there are rubber or plastic washers that create a seal to prevent water from leaking out. When the handles are turned, the washers compress against a valve seat, allowing water to flow through. These faucets require regular maintenance as the washers can wear out over time and cause leaks.

Ball Faucet

Ball faucets have a single handle that controls both the temperature and flow of water. Inside the handle, there is a rotating metal or plastic ball with chambers and slots that regulate the water flow. By rotating the handle, you can adjust the amount of hot and cold water mixed together for your desired temperature. These are relatively easy to use but can be more prone to leaks than other types.

Cartridge Faucet

Similar to ball faucets, cartridge faucets have a single handle that controls the temperature and flow of water. However, instead of a ball, these faucets use a cartridge made of plastic or brass. The cartridge has small holes that mix hot and cold water together for your desired temperature. This type is more durable than ball faucets and requires less maintenance. They are also known for their smooth and easy operation.

Disc Faucet

Disc faucets have two ceramic discs inside the handle that control the flow and temperature of water. These discs move against each other to regulate the amount of hot and cold water mixed together. They are known for their durability and low maintenance, making them a popular choice among homeowners. However, they may be more expensive upfront compared to other types.

Wall-Mounted Faucet

Wall-mounted faucets are attached to the wall instead of the sink or countertop. They are commonly used for freestanding tubs or vessel sinks. This type of faucet gives a sleek and modern look to your bathroom. However, they may require professional installation as plumbing lines need to be run through the wall.

There are numerous types of faucets available in the market, each with their own unique features and purposes. When choosing a faucet for your home, consider your specific needs and preferences to find the best fit. And don’t forget to regularly maintain your faucets to prevent leaks and ensure long-lasting use.
